Browns Slough
Sunset over the Olympic mountains
Seattle from the Bremerton Ferry
Then there is Seattle itself – coming in on one of the ferries gives a great view of the city with the Cascade Mountains in the background.
Anna's Hummingbird
A juvenile Anna’s Hummingbird in the wild – no baiting with feeder bottles. A year later there was another fledgling sitting in the same tree
Male Northern Harrier
A better Northern Harrier ( I put both in to annoy other bird photographers, male hen harriers are not easy to find)
Pacific Tree Frog
A Pacific Tree Frog – probably an inch and a half long
Palouse Pre-Dawn
This was taken before the hordes arrived 04:43 – before the sun came up
Steptoe Dawn
Morning light is the key to Palouse photos – almost all of them taken from here on Steptoe Bute. May 24th with sunrise at 05:04, this is 05:36
Looking the other way on the shady side of the hill at 05:40. Possibly my best landscape photograph
Juneau Eagle
It rains in southern Alaska, even the eagles get wet. And so did the camera!
A Fiord in the Making
Hey, I am photographing again! The pilot of the tourist scenic flights lent me a camera body for this trip (I wouldn’t pay the price if I didn’t have a camera)
On the Pacific Coast
Tyre tracks and foot prints on a Pacific Coast beach – this was the landing strip – the only sigh of humanity was the tyre tracks from when the same plane landed a week before! Did I say the pilot was crazy
Palouse Harvest
2000 miles later a big city where I could buy another camera – shame we were nearly home, this is the Palouse again
Kelp
Or monochrome (i.e. converted to monochrome) - Looking down on kelp from the cliffs
Marmot
A marmot – just sitting in the sun and watching
The Frog was Less Content
I had plenty of practice for this shot, that was the third or fourth frog in as many minutes
Great Horned Owl
I stalked a pair of Great Horned Owls all winter, carefully hiding my tracks so I couldn’t be followed only two or three of us knew where they were. Where did they nest, beside the parking lot!
Pileated Woodpecker
OK, things start to change – I got the 600 mm prime. I probably broke several speed limits between the store and the nature reserve!
Short Eared Owl
And the short eared owls got easier
