This image may have been the drive to get something better than a little point and shoot. Our last day of this US holiday (2004) was in San Francisco. Exactly why we drifted into a camera shop I don’t remember but I came out with a discount price Canon Digital Rebel expecting to use the lenses that I had for an old Canon SLR that was somewhere at home (the fact that it didn’t come away on holiday with us speaks volumes)
Staying at the Bryce Canyon Cabins which are about 10 minutes walk from here has the great advantage that a sunrise shoot is quite easy. Having said that I need to go back now that I own some ND filters
This shot involved two races against time. Firstly could we hike the trail quickly enough to get the sunrise shots – no problem. Secondly would the sun rise before the coachload of noisy kids we could hear approaching swarmed all over the place – just (see inset image)!
