The final pull up to Camp Muir at 10.000’ the launch point for Rainier summit. I am being smug as I am sitting down resting, the last few hundred feet of ascent is a real killer as you can see from the people still coming up. Normally I would want to show whiter snow but by late August it gets a bit “used”
Westside Road is an abandoned road up the west side of Mt Rainier. The river crossing about a quarter of a mile in kept on getting washed away so there is 13 miles of paved road with no vehicles. This is about 8 miles in where it drops off between the trees. As you can see I was first there
Enough of Rainier, this is further north in the Cascade Mountains. This is the mountain with the alpenglow from earlier in the presentation. It is quite a slog to get this view but it is worth it – it is one of those views that is hidden until the last minute, you pop over the ridge and there it is.
