This GBH was standing in its usual spot just preening like normal when it did this. My finger must have been on the shutter release as you normally only get images of the aftermath of sudden events like this. I like the bits of feather still floating in the air
Probably not the same heron but still on Plum Island. I think this was photographed through the car window, it was quite normal for cars to just stop anywhere along the road through the reserve, the worst time was when the warbler migration was happening – those warbler folks are real fanatics!
A Great White Egret fishing in the lagoon just by the road, my first stop in the reserve so nice low morning light. I like the fact that you see the fishes eye
