these guys always offer a splash of colour and are a much easier target. They like to sit in the sun and explain things to you. There is another similar finch – the purple finch which is, surprisingly, red just like the house finch
An Anna’s Hummingbird. The only bird feeders allowed on the housing complex were hummingbird feeders – mine was hung just outside my office (AKA the third floor bedroom). This was my first attempt with a flash and I still like it more than any of the later attempts
I prefer my hummingbird images to be natural – this was out in Skagit, I would see their fledglings each year but I never found the nest
