I had a season ticket to this place (Crane Castle) because the beach on the estate was great for plovers and terns (and I so enjoyed driving past the queue at the entrance and getting a cheery wave from the person in the booth). On one of Morag’s trips we thought we aught to visit the house. It was so National Trust!
– I wasn’t familiar with the Lotus Flower until I found this nature reserve (Concord MA), the whole lake would be covered in large yellow flowers in the summer but this solitary seed-head frozen in the ice caught my imagination
