This shot involved two races against time. Firstly could we hike the trail quickly enough to get the sunrise shots – no problem. Secondly would the sun rise before the coachload of noisy kids we could hear approaching swarmed all over the place – just (see inset image)!
When I was looking for an image to give the next image context I found this, unfortunately it was taken by Morag while she waited to collect us boys but I am using it anyway. This is called the valley of the 10 peaks, we only climbed 5 of them
