An Anna’s Hummingbird. The only bird feeders allowed on the housing complex were hummingbird feeders – mine was hung just outside my office (AKA the third floor bedroom). This was my first attempt with a flash and I still like it more than any of the later attempts
I prefer my hummingbird images to be natural – this was out in Skagit, I would see their fledglings each year but I never found the nest
The same as our Swallow. Certainly they were much less common than the Tree Swallow (next image) in all the places I visited. This nest was out along the boardwalk at Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge
