Enough of Rainier, this is further north in the Cascade Mountains. This is the mountain with the alpenglow from earlier in the presentation. To get to this viewpoint you have three options, traverse a steep snow slope, wade through the snow in a deep bowl or fight through the “Spruce Traps” along the ridge. I went up by the first rout and wish I had come back the same way when I did the third route on the way back
The Skyline Divide is another hike near Mt Baker, the parking lot is up 5 miles of steep and twisty dirt road and this was at least 3 miles of hiking from the car! In a competition the judge said he thought the image wasn’t sharp but then did a bit of pixel peeping and saw that each grain of ice is sharp, it just looks fuzzy.
This is the same hike at a different time of year. That’s Mount Baker in the background. There were often mountain goats along the ridge but I don’t see them in this image
